Lunches at our HELP Center
Come serve a hot lunch to guests at our HELP Center located at 6425 Tyrone Ave. in Van Nuys. Lunch is served Monday through Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Park in the back lot of Central Lutheran Church on the corner of Tyrone and Gilmore Avenue. Look for the Hope of the Valley sign and check-in with our security personnel at the blue canopy. We need 15-20 volunteers daily. Please check our calendar for openings.
Dinners, Breakfasts & Sack Lunches at our Cold Weather Shelters
We need different volunteer groups to sponsor a dinner, breakfast and a sack lunch 7 days per week from December through March. Cook, bring and serve food to 150 homeless guests OR purchase food (i.e., pizzas, tacos, burritos, etc.) to serve to our 150 homeless guests. You can also donate funds and have us prepare a dinner, a breakfast and a sack lunck in your group’s name.
Conduct A Drive
Your business, organization, school, church or community group can make a HUGE difference in the lives of our clients. Host a drive (food, clothing, especially socks and underwear, school supplies, personal hygiene products, books, backpacks, diapers, baby formula, toys, etc.) and help spread the word about Hope of the Valley!
Volunteer at our Youth Shelter and Family Shelters
Small groups and LifeGroups from churches, synagogues and temples can help our families at Genesis House, Shepherd’s House and Casa de Vida and our young adults at The Landing. Here are a few ways that your group can help – sponsor a meal or host a BBQ, host a movie night or a game night, invite families and youth to one of your gatherings, provide homework assistance and tutoring to school aged children, provide an internship opportunity for a young adult, conduct a property improvement project, plant a garden, rehab an outdoor play area, etc. WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Volunteer at an EVENT or in our ADMIN OFFICES
Volunteer at one of our catering events. Help with registration or be an usher or a greeter at one of our benefit concerts or performances. Help promote our Drumstick Dash LA 10k/5k benefit run on Thanksgiving morning. Help secure sponsors and in-kind donations. Serve on an event committee! We also welcome help in our Admin Offices. Share a special skill such as data entry, writing, designing, organizing, filing, computing, etc.
