Our Culinary Program produces more than 300 healthy, nutritious, balanced meals daily for clients in our programs. Menus are carefully prepared by our Executive Chef, Geronimo Lopez based on donated inventory, which substantially reduces food waste. Fresh produce and perishables are purchased to supplement meals and boost the nutritional content for our clients who suffer from the negative health effects of chronic hunger.
Clients in our John E. White House of Hope alcohol and substance abuse recovery program gain real-world job experience working in our kitchen. They learn about nutrition, food safety and sanitation and how to use professional cooking tools, utensils and commercial kitchen equipment. They practice these skills by preparing nutritious meals for our homeless clients.
Hope of the Valley has honed its social enterprise business acumen with our highly successful Thrift Stores and we have applied what we have learned to our Culinary Program by offering Catering Services for corporate events and celebrations. Hope of the Valley has partnered with the Get Together Foundation on the Motel Meals program where hot, nutritious meals that have been prepared by our Culinary Program are distributed from a licensed food truck to homeless families living in motels in the San Fernando Valley.
