Ken Craft

President/CEO

President and CEO Ken Craft, brings a unique blend of business and ministry to Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission. Having served nearly 20 years as a pastor, 6 years with a fortune 500 company and another 8 years as a Mission Director of a homeless shelter, he is committed to engaging his heart and head when it comes to overseeing the work of the Mission. He realizes that a successful Rescue Mission must maintain a balance between finances and faith, passion and purpose, compassion and conviction. Don’t expect to find Ken huddled in his office. His hands on approach to caring for the needs of the homeless and hungry serve as a model of servant leadership to his staff and other volunteers. His passion is to help “the least of these” and assist them on the road to recovery. Ken has been blessed with three children.

David Faustina

General Manager

David comes to Hope of the Valley as a recent transplant from the San Francisco Bay Area. For the past three years he served as managing director of one of the largest professional musical theatre companies in the Bay Area where he lead the organization to receive the CBS Award naming his company “Best of the Bay” in 2011 and 2012. David has also been affiliated with Monster.com as a national speaker and trainer having traveled throughout the United States presenting programs to over 120 locations and well over 80,000 attendees. His real passion comes from his career start in ministry serving as youth minister at Trinity Lutheran Church from 2003- 2008 in Pleasanton, California immediately following his education from Pepperdine University in Malibu. In January David plans on continuing his education at the Graziadio School of Business at Pepperdine University. David is excited to join the team at Hope of the Valley and seeks the guidance from the divine to continue to grow this organization to serve more, do more and serve the most vulnerable in Los Angeles.

Laurie Craft

Director of Food Services

Before coming on staff, Laurie Craft volunteered her services as head cook for the first two years of the Rescue Mission. Born and raised in the Mid-west, her kind heart and generous spirit inspire all who work alongside her in the kitchen. Having once owned her own bakery in Costa Rica, where she lived for 12 years, she has a deep love for culinary arts and is a master of making five star meals out of two star products. What sets Laurie apart as a Mission Chef is her deep love and compassion for the people she serves. Before each meal, you will find Laurie interpreting into Spanish the Message of Hope delivered by the Mission Director. Laurie spends her spare time caring for her 6 children, serving in her local church and being a good will ambassador for the disadvantaged.

Steve Morse

Thrift Store Manager

Steve Morse has spent the past 12 years of his life learning the art of running an effective and efficient Thrift Store. Steve understands the balance between funding and faith, knowing that the efforts behind a well-run Thrift Store exist to fund programs and services for the homeless. He will be the first to tell you the Thrift Store exist for the Mission, not the other way around. Steve possesses an incredible work ethic and passion to help the men in the Missions program rebuild and restore their lives.

Andrea Leeper

Business Office

Andrea hails from Wisconsin (Go-Pack-Go!), and has lived in Canada and across the country – East Coast, Mid West, and the South. She came to the West Coast in 2008 to assist with a church planting in Oxnard. She found herself at Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission in December 2011, initially as a bookkeeper, finding herself planning and executing events, growing the Human Resource department, and lending herself to wherever she was needed. She is now developing the Gifts-in-Kind department.

Timothy Pardue

House Manager, John E. White House of Hope

Timothy came to California in 1997 from Nashville, Tennessee, as a businessman and entrepreneur. While at Ventura County Rescue Mission, where he worked as Volunteer Coordinator, he connected with Ken Craft and Jonathan Leeper. He joined Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission in March of 2012, becoming the House Manager of the House of Hope, a men’s recovery program. His gifts for making and cultivating relationships, and his understanding of the recovery process provide him with tools to mentor and guide the men in his care.

Dion Slider

Homeless Services Manager

As a father of seven children, Dion has the heart, wisdom, and patience needed in our Access Center. He has a background in counseling, and has served as a drug court liason. Since joining Hope of the Valley in May, Dion has found much satisfaction in helping families reunite, helping people get their lives on a healthy track, and move toward success.
